Our vision for English:
At Spurcroft Primary School we aspire for our classrooms to be full of confident learners who have self-belief in their skills and ability to reach their goals. In English lessons teachers plan to enable children to know their next steps to success through teaching which is targeted to meet pupil’s needs. Teachers use tools such as child friendly success ladders to allow the children to identity their target areas for improvement. Throughout our school we encourage pupils to form their own views and share their opinions in English lessons; to develop this further we plan to develop a whole school approach to the specific teaching of oracy across the school over the next two years. We aim for children to challenge themselves in lessons and take responsibility for their own learning through working hard and asking appropriate questions. We aim for our English lessons to give children the skills which will be relevant to their futures in giving them the foundation skills such as the ability to communicate, whether in written or verbal form, to prepare them for a future life in a 21st century workforce.
