Termly Homework
Year 1
Homework for the Year 1 children will be phonics focussed this term. A phonics pack will be sent home with instructions for you and your child to follow; if you need extra copies of the instructions or resources, you will be able to find these in the 'news and events, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 1 home learning' section of the school website. The activities include playing phonics games, word searches, bingo, flashcards, and real and nonsense words.
Year 2
Homework for the Year 2 children will be SATs focussed. A SATs revision pack will be sent home for you and your child to work through together. This can also be found in the 'news and events, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 1 home learning' section of the school website. A new, termly spelling list focussing on common exception words will also be sent home.
Any allergies or intolerances
This term the children in Year 1 will be making their own fruit kebabs. Before this, the children will be tasting a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. If your child has any food allergies or intolerances, could you let your child's class teacher know as soon as possible.
Reminder about Book Bag Books
If your child has a book bag book, please could they bring them into school each day in their plastic wallet. Along with the book bag books, access to the book that your child is reading in school during their 'Read, Write, Inc' phonic lessons is available through Oxford Owl as an eBook and is assigned weekly. Please talk to your child's class teacher if you need a new login.
PE
Now that the weather is getting warmer, and PE will be mainly outdoors, please ensure that your child has a named sun hat and a water bottle. Sun cream is best applied at home before school but the children can bring in a clearly named, small bottle that they can apply themselves. Children are not allowed to share sun cream with others. Sun hats, sun cream, and water bottles will also be needed for break and lunch times.

Supporting your child at home
These are ways that you can help your child at home:
Listening to them read and talking about what they have read
Ensuring that they complete their home learning activities
Reminding them to bring their reading book / book bag book and reading record book into school each day
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come in to see me or speak to your child’s teacher. Thank you for your continued support.
