Spurcroft Primary School and Nursery
The future begins here...
Children may wear the following:
• Black or grey school trousers, shorts, skirts or dresses
• White shirts or polo shirts (pupils in Early Years can wear pale blue polo shirts, but it should be white from Year 1 onwards)
• Claret sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan
• Black Velcro shoes (not trainers, sandals or boots)
• Red and white checked dresses
For PE lessons and activities children come to school dressed in their PE kit, with their school jumpers on. The PE kit is:
• Claret, navy or black sports shorts, or tracksuit bottoms in colder weather
• Plain white t-shirt
• Plimsolls or trainers
These should be kept in school in a drawstring style bag. Large school bags are discouraged because of limited cloakroom space.
Pupils should not wear football kits or other brightly coloured clothes for school PE lessons.
Jewellery, accessories and Hijab/Headscarves
For health and safety reasons we do not allow children to wear jewellery. The exceptions to this rule are small ear studs in pierced ears, and small objects of religious or highly personal significance.
Wherever possible children are required to remove any jewellery items during PE lessons to prevent them from causing injury. Please note: staff are not permitted to remove earrings for pupils.
Hijab/headscarves should be plain white, dark colours or school uniform colours, without embellishments.
Hair accessories should be in school colours and fairly simple. Pupils will be asked to remove large or distracting hair accessories.
Make Up
Pupils should not wear make-up, have visible temporary tattoos, or painted nails.
Footwear
All children are required to wear plain black shoes (no boots or trainers are allowed). For health and safety reasons we do not allow children to wear shoes with high heels.
Hair Styles
Hair styles should be practical and hair should be out of pupils’ eyes. We ask that long hair is tied up to prevent the spread of head lice. If hair is dyed, it should be a natural colour.
Pre-loved uniform
We have a large selection of good quality second hand uniform items for sale, including school jumpers. We suggest a donation of at £1 an item. Please email any requests to fofspurcroft@spurcroft.w-berks.sch.uk or ask at the school office.
