Physical education and sports, experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is a unique and vital contributor to a pupil’s physical development and well-being.  At Spurcroft we offer a broad and balanced physical education curriculum which provides for pupils’ increasing self-confidence in their ability to control their movements within a variety of situations.  

At Spurcroft Primary School we aspire for all children to enjoy physical activities and take responsibility for their own development, which boosts their self-belief, resilience and confidence in working as an individual or as part of a team. We recognise the importance of mental health and emotional well-being as well as physical health to our pupils and staff. 

We give pupils opportunities to develop sporting skills outside of the main curriculum, offering a range of specialist sports clubs, friendly events and competitions.  These opportunities increase as pupils go on up through the school.  Our target for is that all pupils will have represented the school at a sporting event by the end of their Year 6.
