Spurcroft Primary School and Nursery

The future begins here...

PE and Sport Premium

Physical education and sports, experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is a unique and vital contributor to a pupil’s physical development and well-being.  At Spurcroft we offer a broad and balanced physical education curriculum which provides for pupils’ increasing self-confidence in their ability to control their movements within a variety of situations.

At Spurcroft Primary School we aspire for all children to enjoy physical activities and take responsibility for their own development, which boosts their self-belief, resilience and confidence in working as an individual or as part of a team. We recognise the importance of mental health and emotional well-being as well as physical health to our pupils and staff.

We give pupils opportunities to develop sporting skills outside of the main curriculum, offering a range of specialist sports clubs, friendly events and competitions.  These opportunities increase as pupils go on up through the school.  Our target for 2023-24 is that all pupils will have represented the school at a sporting event by the end of Year 6.
