Spurcroft Primary School and Nursery
The future begins here...
We have a fantastic, nurturing Nursery provision which gives 3 and 4 year old children a great start to their school life. Our purpose built Early Years Unit is full of engaging learning spaces and resources that build on children's early experiences.
Our focus is on learning in the Prime Areas of Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
Learning through play is key, with pupils having a mix of short, adult-led experiences, and longer, child-led activities.
Nursery children mix with our Reception children in Independent Learning time, and build up the confidence to be away from their Parents and Carers.
When the time comes for their transition into Reception, pupils in our Nursery already know the staff well and they are familiar with school routines and expectations. Children who have been with us in Nursery really flourish when they start in Reception.
For half a day a week pupils spend time in our beautiful wooded area having outdoor learning.
This involves playing in the trees, exploring the world, investigating, storytelling and cooking on an open fire.
We go out in all weathers and children get to experience the natural environment all year round!
We have flexibility over our admissions. We offer 15 hour universal funded places, 30 hours funded Nursery places and parents are also able to buy top-up sessions. We also accept Child Tax Credits and Childcare Vouchers.
